2024.10.02

Leave a Nest Group has invested in Phytolipid Technologies Inc. (Head Office: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; CEO: Mr. Hiroyuki Ota; hereinafter “Phytolipid Technologies”)  through Leave a Nest Capital Co., Ltd. and Germination Fund I.

Phytolipid Technologies is a venture company originating from Tokyo University of Science (formerly Tokyo Institute of Technology) that has developed a technology for producing useful lipids using the oil-producing algae Nannochloropsis. The company’s vision is “to contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emission and carbon recycling efforts on Earth by utilizing natural lipids and lipid-derived compounds found in plants and algae using cutting-edge technology.”

Leave a Nest Group decided to invest in Phytolipid Technologies due to their shared dedication in achieving zero CO2 emissions.

This investment marks the first collaborative funding between Leave a Nest Capital and VC companies (Hiroshima Venture Capital Co., Ltd. and Focus Incubate Co., Ltd.) that support the concept of seed investments in germination stage (※1) ventures and CEC (※2).

Leave a Nest Capital remains committed to promoting co-investments in germination stage ventures that often face challenges in raising capital.

With this funding, Phytolipid Technologies aims to strengthen its application for large-scale subsidies, stabilize its management foundation by forming a robust management team, and accelerate business expansion.

Moving forward, Leave a Nest Group will continue to create deep tech that solves deep issues in all fields and contributes to global happiness.

※1 Germination Stage: A concept proposed by Leave a Nest Capital, referring to the phase from the research and development stage until the establishment of a business model and market with a certain level of persuasiveness in the business plan.

※2 CEC (Corporate “Entrepreneur” Capital): A concept proposed by Leave a Nest Capital, which adds a mechanism for accompanying ventures through seed investments to existing CVCs (Corporate Venture Capital). It refers to a new type of CVC that demonstrates the value of nurturing the personnel who accompany the investee companies as entrepreneurial talent and next-generation management personnel.
